Grass fire destroys 23,000 acres of farmland and pasture near North Platte

A wildfire on Wednesday threatened the Nebraska town of Stapleton, located 30 miles north of North Platte. The fire has been contained, but authorities are monitoring the hot spots and concerned that strong winds could cause problems. The fire caused millions of dollars in crop losses and burned 23,000 acres of farmland and pasture land.
