Nebraska could benefit from corn cobs

The federal renewable fuels standards mandates that the nation produce 1 billion gallons of cellulosic ethanol by 2013. That number climbs to 16 billion gallons in 2022. That's a good thing for South Dakota-based ethanol company POET. The company recently funded research through Iowa State University on producing cellulosic ethanol from corn cobs. Company officials say the federal mandate will put the science of cellulosic research into hyper-drive. And as Clay Masters reports, Nebraska could benefit from the new technology.
