New law requires immigration status checks for public jobs, benefits

Government agencies and businesses that contract with the state will be required to check the immigration status of new hires, under a bill signed into law Wednesday. But the law faces criticism from both Latino-rights groups and opponents of illegal immigration. Sarah McCammon reports.
