Assistant General Manager - Technology (Chief Technology Officer)

NET  seeks  a Chief Technology Officer who will provide the strategic vision for enhancing NET’s  digital  media    production   and  distribution  platforms  and  infrastructure.  NET is Nebraska’s  state-wide public broadcaster and is a nationally recognized leader  in  educational  technology  and  public  media.  NET produces high definition television productions, multi-media products and radio programming for state, national and international distribution.  The successful  candidate will be a member of NET’s senior management team and will have a  prominent role in setting the organization’s technological priorities  and  in implementing processes that will help improve NET’s public media mission.

The Chief  Technology  Officer will be responsible for overseeing  NET’s  current  technology team and NET’s  multiple media platforms.  NET is a large and complex organization, with state-of-the-art  technologies and needs  someone who is a good communicator who can translate technology strategies and initiatives to the organization and its governing bodies.  The ideal candidate is energetic, positive, outgoing, and has demonstrated success integrating   technology into a larger organization.   Individual must have a strong understanding of project management methodologies and tools and knowledge of applicable business areas, supporting technology architectures, and applicable processes. In addition, the  successful  candidate must be a strong manager of staff.   NET has a great team, and desires to help them grow.

This role will hold influence over all technology initiatives, from high-end digital post-production facilities to terrestrial and satellite.  The successful candidate will be someone who has hands-on experience with both digital broadcasting and IP infrastructure and digital media production processes.  NET has a complex variety of technologies in-house; the successful candidate will be able to assist in evaluating, improving, and planning NET’s technological strategies.  This individual is expected to build relationships with vendors, contractors, and external organizations for all technology related initiatives.

Requirements:   Bachelor’s  degree in a  related  technology  field,  BSEE preferred.   Ten  years  relevant experience required, five years  of  which  must  be  in  technology  management  and  supervision. Equivalency considered.  Radio and television broadcast experience and familiarity with satellite transmission systems, network  operations,  and  digital transmission  technologies  desired.

Reports to the Assistant General Manager – Development and Marketing, manages the administrative operations and personnel for NET underwriting, contractual and corporate fundraising activities. Works cooperatively and collaboratively with NET departments to coordinate timelines and deadlines. Assists in the research and development of marketing initiatives and strategies. Senior Producer - Humanities

Join Nebraska’s award winning public media team in a leadership role working with broadcast, online content, social media and evolving technology.

NET Radio seeks a Senior Producer, Humanities to develop trans media cultural content for radio, web and mobile in collaboration with NET Television. The ideal candidate will be a skilled digital story teller who can produce compelling content in the humanities including history, art, religion, and literature. Additional duties include recruit, train, and supervise radio announcers; program and host on-air shifts as needed; develop and produce special radio programs and projects; assist in on-air membership drives. Requires Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, broadcasting,  humanities, or related field and minimum three years reporting and production experience required; equivalency considered. Supervisory experience preferred.
