Nebraska Concerts in December
Nebraska Concerts in December features two holiday concerts from the Abendmusik at First Plymouth series, and holiday concerts from the Nebraska Brass, Nebraska Jazz Orchestra, Dulces Voces and the Lincoln Early Music Consort, and Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra.
Dec. 1st – From a 2012 Abendmusik at First Plymouth concert, Abendchor and the Abendmusik Chamber Players, under the direction of conductors Therees Tkach Hibbard and Tom Trenney, present George Frideric Handel’s “Messiah” and “Coronation Anthems.”
Dec. 8th – Also from 2012, the Nebraska Brass perform their annual Christmas concert called, “A Nebraska Brass Christmas.” To conclude this week’s program, the Nebraska Jazz Orchestra play their annual December concert with guest trumpeter Willie Murillo and guest vocalist Becky Martin in a program called “High Intensity.” Martin sings a few holiday tunes at the end of the concert with the orchestra.
Dec. 15th – From another 2012 holiday concert, Lincoln vocal group Dulces Voces and the Lincoln Early Music Consort perform a selection of early music tunes for the Christmas season called “Arise and Sing!”
Dec. 22nd – And, from another 2012 Abendmusik at First Plymouth concert, The Abendmusik Chorus, The Plymouth Brass, The Plymouth Ringers, with narrator Suzanne Jouvenat and dancer Maribel Cruz perform a holiday celebration called “Let Heaven and Nature Sing.”
Dec. 29th – From this year’s holiday concert by Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra, Tyler White conducts the annual “Deck The Halls” holiday concert. Guests this year include: actor Tim Marrone; students and teachers from the Lincoln Suzuki studios; Lincoln Midwest Ballet Company; and the UNL Big Red Singers.
This weekly program airs Sundays at 1 p.m. Central on all stations of the NET Radio network. It is produced and edited by Dave Hughes, Michael Keelan is scriptwriter and host, and most of the concerts are recorded by James Duchesneau and Jeff Smith.
