Mixing Latin-tinged rockabilly with a flowing love for Tex-Mex styles, Billy Bacon finds a place among the legion of Tex-Mex rockers standing on the fringes of rock 'n' roll. With a bouncing beat, accordion melodies and festive guitar work, Bacon's band blurs the line between traditional Latin songs and contemporary rock. Billy Bacon & The Forbidden Pigs were originally brought to Triple X by Mojo Nixon, who had become enamored with the band's straight-forward roadhouse style. Their debut, Una Más Cerveza, proved the band to be as at home in the studio as a smoky club. and it got folks to notice the trio from San Diego who played the music known as Tex-Mex Blues-a-billy. Dressed to Swill followed, placing the Pigs in the musical company of Evan Johns, Mojo Nixon, Michael Doucet of Beausoleil, and Country Dick Montana of the Beat Farmers. Main singer/ songwriter/ bassist/ bandleader Billy Bacon
has also herded up some new swingin' swine to help tear up America's highways
and roadhouses. Billy Bacon has always been the main attraction at Pig
shows with his barnyard antics, however, his dementia is now matched by
wildman Jerry "Hot Rod" DeMink. "Hot Rod' spent three years as guitarist
and band leader for blues legend A.C. Reed before sizzling with Mr. Bacon.
Rounding out the trio is Randy "The Hammer' Willert on drums His energy
can drive the Pigs into a state of frenzy and his experience allows him
to deal out the diversity that has always been a Forbidden Pig trademark.
