Russ' Room

For many band members through the years, marching fostered or deepened their enthusiasm for the football team. They became fans, and Russ Swanson of Omaha is one of the biggest fans around. His family room in the basement of his house is almost a shrine to the team. He's not alone in his enthusiasm. We have a QuickTime VR tour of his room here where you can pan around, zoom in an zoom out.

Russ Swanson played in the 1940 Nebraska Marching Band and was on the band's Rose Bowl trip that year. He still has his meal ticket from that trip (and it's in the room). Supper was 60¢. He still has a sweater that he earned (and it's in the room), but he can't quite fit into it anymore. Over the years, he's collected a lot of hats, pennants, pictures and memorabilia. His wife says, "He saves everything."
