The Show!

All of the tryouts and practice are endured for one goal -- performances, and most particularly the pre-game and half-time shows at home football games in Memorial Stadium. Over the years, uniforms have changed, card sections have come and gone and music has evolved.

More importantly, the style of marching has changed dramatically. In the videos here, you'll see the evolution from straight rank and file military drill, through the flash of Lentz' formations, to the intricate changing patterns of today's marching style.

The first clip is of the 1928 Cadet Band in a rare piece of film showing their military marching style.

In 1941, the Rose Bowl beckoned and the band sported new uniforms for their appearance.

In a 1952 half-time show, you can begin to see an inkling of the patterns as well as the card section in the stands.

In 1960, Band Day brought thousands of high school band members to Lincoln to join the Cornhuskers. [This is a silent movie.]
