Next Exit Wins Colonel Barney and Vada Oldfield Award

Next Exit is a new television series for the Nebraska ETV Network. Its mission is to document everyday life in the state of Nebraska. With genuine curiosity, humor and intellect, the series will pursue the stories of ordinary people who do extraordinary things, and the places that make us feel at home.

The series will not feature stories on movie stars who used to live here, politicians, or business tycoons -- unless they are interesting for some other completely different reason. Rather, we will seek to illuminate who we are and where we live. The series is an ode to identity. We will plunge viewers into a sincere, but quirky, exploration of people, places, events, flora, fauna and things uniquely Midwestern.

We're always looking for stories we might tell. The sort of stories we're looking for might be breezy, touching, revealing, funny, poignant, sociological or anthropological. Perhaps you've got a friend or relative whose occupation or hobby reveals something unique about the state. Perhaps you have a favorite place you'd to show us. Maybe you've got a quirky idea for a short segment. We'd love to hear from you.

The host for Next Exit is Nebraska native Laurie Richards.
