Lost & Found Film: Springtime in the Sandhills - Marietta Schumacher Info
Sandhills Photo Album
Marietta C. Schumacher's
grandfather homesteaded on the Nebraska Sandhills in 1887. Marietta herself spent much of her own childhood growing up on the ranch that her grandfather built. In the late 1970's, Marietta decided that she wanted to document the majestic Sandhills which she had grown to love. Her vision was to shoot footage of the land and its people throughout the four seasons of the year. Marietta then contacted Nebraska Educational Telecommunications about turning her film footage into a cinematic tapestry of her grandfather's ranch located near Alliance, Nebraska. NET's original production, "The Four Seasons of the Sandhills" was produced in 1982. In this Next Exit segment, NET revisits that lost footage to create a new interpretation of this timeless slice of Nebraska with a focus on Springtime.
