[Chris Sayre] The song, "Grandma Was a Dreamer," really pays tribute to this woman who taught me how to dream and how to seek out those things that I was interested in learning about. And one of the reasons I probably play twelve instruments is because I don't put limits on myself.
Lyrics to "Grandma Was a Dreamer" She nurtured my imagination; I was a make-believe kid.
Now I could hold my own in the neighborhood playing ball with the other boys,
but the times that I remember most were staying home and making my own toys.
Grandma was a dreamer kids, and she taught your daddy well
And you can both be dreamers too, but only time can tell
If the dreams you dream come true.
And as I grew, these little words of wisdom I would sometimes hear her say
"Don't give up on where your dreams are leading, 'cause they'll help you find your way"
And as a man when I would get discouraged And I'd want to chuck it all
She never let me stop believing, and I would catch my fall.
Grandma was a dreamer kids, and she taught your daddy well
And you can both be dreamers too, but only time can tell,
If the dreams you dream come true.
Now Grandma's left us and we sure will miss her, but she isn't really gone,
With every dream that you and I can muster, her memory still lives on.
As long as there are dreamers in this world, everything I think will be all right,
So give us a kiss and I'll tuck you in, I hope you have sweet dreams tonight.
Grandma was a dreamer kids, and she taught your daddy well,
And you can both be dreamers too, but only time can tell,
If the dreams you dream come true.
Grandma was a dreamer kids, and she taught your daddy how,
And you can both be dreamers too, but we might as well start now,
To make the dreams you can dream come true.
[Chris Sayre] "Grandma Was a Dreamer" really just pretty much tells the story of how my Mom influenced me by showing me by example. And she was a very creative person -- was a schoolteacher -- home ec teacher -- and often had projects going on the kitchen table. And I think some of that had to have rubbed off on me.
