Asmat Museum at the Crosier Monastery - Hastings
- Located at the Monastery of Immaculate Conception,
223 E. 14th St. The Asmat Museum features one of North America's
largest collections of rare art forms of the Asmat tribe of New
Guinea. The Asmats represent one of the last vestiges of the Stone
Age. Their wood carvings are stylized symbols of a way of life
based on ancestor worship and on headhunting. Tours by appointment.

Carnegie Arts Center - Alliance
- A premier art gallery with featured works from
Nebraskan artists and artisans from throughout the Region. A beautiful
outdoor sculpture garden is the newest addition to the historic
facility.
Durham Western
Heritage Museum - Omaha
- 801 S. 10th St. This beautiful art deco railroad station houses
exhibits on the history of Omaha, a restored soda fountain, decorative
arts, a theater, train cars with period furnishings and model
trains. Special touring exhibitions. Schedule is available by
calling museum. Byron Reed coin collection has some of the world's
rarest and most valuable coins. Tues.-Sat., 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Sun. 1-5
p.m. Closed Mondays & most major holidays. Admission $5 Adults;

Plains Art Collection - Lincoln
- The Christlieb Gallery at Hewit Place, 1155 Q
Street, University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus. Features changing
exhibits and collection of western art including sculptures by
Russell and Remington. Also on display are paintngs and prints
by Albert Bierstadt, Karl Bodmer and other contemporary Plains
and Native American artists. The Christlieb Gallery is open Tuesday
through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday afternoons from 1:30
to 5 p.m. Closed major holidays and between exhibitions and academic

Joslyn
Art Museum - Omaha

Dodge St. A premier center for the visual arts since it opened
in 1931. Joslyn Art Museum features works from antiquity to the
present with a special emphasis on 19th - 20th century European
and American art. You will find impressive works by El Greco,
Veronese, Monet, Degas, Grant Wood, and Jackson Pollock among
others. In addition, the museum is world-renowned for Karl Bodmer's
watercolors and prints which document his 1832-34 journey to the
Missouri River frontier. The museum presents approximately twelve
special exhibitions each year as well as year-round music and
educational programs. The building itself is one of the finest
examples of Art Deco architecture in the nation. Open year-round
Tues.-Sat., 10 a.m.-4 p.m.; Sun., noon-4 p.m. Closed Mon. and major
