What's Next?
Here is what's coming in April on Next Exit:
"New Life" airs April 2 and April 16 at 7:30 pm (CST):
Small Town with a Big Screen Heart - Under the hands of the high school science teacher and a cadre of his students, the old Schuyler movie theater is given a new life - and the youth are given a new reason to stay in town. The renovation project is captured by 23-year old Schuyler native Patrick Rea who joins host Laurie Richards on the Next Exit set to discuss why he wanted to do the project and what's next.
Lost & Found Film: George Wentz - George Wentz was a Lincoln native with a filmmaker's soul. From 1921 - 1948 he traveled the state and filmed all that he saw. Tonight we take a look at a 1937 trip he took to Bar 99 Ranch where he captured a day in the life of a Cherry County Cowboy. The Bar 99 Ranch is now the Arnold Bowman Working Ranch State Park. The film is courtesy of the Nebraska State Historical Society.
Nebraska Nisei - During WWII, in the name of American safety, Japanese-American internment camps sprung up in the west. Thousands of men, women and child were removed from their homes and housed in make-shift buildings with community living quarters. The University of Nebraska-Lincoln offered a way out of this camp to a precious few. They came to college and became known as the Nebraska Nisei. This is their story on how Nebraska became their sacred place.
Backstage Pass: Angela Hagenbach - Angela sings "Don't Get Around Much Anymore" from at a NETV Brownville Concert.
"Journeys" airs April 9 and April 23 at 7:30 pm (CST):
The Polish Phoenix - We meet Benny Hochman, an amazing man who knows the true cost and value of freedom. He has made his Nazi internment camp experience into a lifelong lesson for us all.
Jun Kaneko - As we move through Omaha potter Jun Kaneko's process of creating one of his large-scale sculptures called dangos, we learn his definition of creativity and the need for it in our lives.
The Bus Trip - The local bank-sponsored bus trip offered a ride through Central Nebraska. The youngest passenger on the bus discovers not only the beauty of several central Nebraska small towns, but also learns a lesson from her bus co-horts on how to be truly young at heart and enjoy the simple beauty of a day away.
