Studying star quilts is one way to begin to understand the culture of Native American people here in Nebraska. If you would like to learn more about the heritage of quilt making throughout the world check out The International Quilt Study Center web site. You can find a lot of great quilting information as well as directions for visiting the Quilt Study Center which is located on the East Campus of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. During July and August 2002 the Quilt Study Center will be presenting a mini-exhibit, "Long Hot Summer: Quilts that
Make the Mercury Rise." Visit the state-of-the-art storage facility on
the second floor of the Home Economics Building. Environmental controls cool down these hot quilts from the 19th and 20th centuries.
