"The idea behind the song of My Voice is one that relates hope to a world that is quite uncertain most of the time. There are so many things wrong in the world, but I think the one that hurts the most and has the harshest consequences is divorce. When we are young, all of our insecurities are protected by a family that loves and cares for us, when that parental trust is broken it leaves a child to turn to his or her own understanding of the world. Most of the time it is not the right understanding and it leads to more problems and eventually will continue into the child's marriage. My Voice tries to take those feelings of hurt and turn them into a positive force for good. It is almost as if divorce dares you to be great and you step up to the challenge and say, This is just a rock in the road and I'll be able to get around it!" -- Luke Mills, lead singer, "after the order"
"My Voice" lyrics by "after the order"
I know you hear my voice up where you are
I know you see my face in your mind
I know we said goodbye and said it's over
And I know I said that's fine
But I still hear your voice up where you are
I still see your faces on my mind
I know we said goodbye and said it's over
But I know that it's not fine
Chorus:
But I'm alright and I'm okay
I guess you both had to go your separate ways
But when I say, "I do"
I promise to be sure it's true
And I'll be alright, I'll be okay
I'll be okay
I know God hears my voice around when I pray
I know He lifts my heart when I cry
Fear sometimes falls on me late at night
Sometimes I want to blame your shine
But I'm not ever going to blame your shine
