And there were just pens as far as you could see all full of cattle. There were horses, there were men on horses. That was part of the excitement. In cowboy hats and so... My Dad just wore overalls, he was a farmer not a cowboy.

My Dad, he lives in Kearney now, he’s a retired buyer. He used to take us down and let us walk in the pens and let us walk on the runway. And if it was a hot summer day they’d let you shoot the cattle with... with the water sprayers and everything so... that was kinda neat.

When they tore this... all this down, they found a tunnel that they would drive cattle from that stockyard over to the packing houses underground. You could drive a car down through that.
