Recession Survival Guide
premiered in June 2009

|
Did you know that the average household wastes 14 percent of food purchases? Or, that 75 percent of the electricity used to power home electronics is consumed while the product is off? With economic news in the headlines everyday, Nebraskans are looking for practical ways to survive the current recession and make ends meet at home.
University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) Extension experts will explain money-saving tactics to stretch your grocery dollars, trim your family budget and make your home more energy efficient in the NET Television production "Recession Survival Guide."
NET Television senior producer Mike Tobias interviewed UNL Extension experts on five specific topics for the program. The "Recession Survival Guide" segments include "Cutting Food Costs" with Lancaster County Extension Educator Alice Henneman; "Household Expenses" and "Managing Money" with UNL Extension Family Economist Kathy Prochaska-Cue; "Energy Savings" with UNL Extension Housing and Environment Specialist Shirley Niemeyer; and "Handling Stress" with Seward County Extension Educator Gail Brand. The "Recession Survival Guide" is a partnership between NET Television and University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension.
