12/23/10 — Lower Republican plan could hit upstream districts
Nebraska's fighting again over the Republican River, which stretches 200 miles between the southwest corner of the state to south of Grand Island. Part of the fight's with Kansas, which says Nebraska's using more than its fair share of the river that runs near the two states' border. But there are disagreements within Nebraska as well, with people on different sections of the river having different ideas about how to handle water problems. In Republican River Currents, NET News reporter Fred Knapp introduces us to people along the river with different perspectives, and takes a look at how state and local governments are approaching the policy and legal questions.
