PRIMARY 2002: THE RACE IS ON

 PERSPECTIVE
PRIMARY 2002

(May 17, 2002) - A ballot with few contested races kept voters away from the polls in record numbers for the May 14 primary election. While there were few surprises, the election did set the stage for some interesting races in the fall. Of special interest are the Governor’s race, with Democrat Stormy Dean challenging incumbent Mike Johanns; incumbent Lee Terry vs. Democrat Jim Simon for the 2nd District seat in the House of Representatives; and Republican Jon Bruning and Democrat Mike Meister battling for the open Attorney General’s job.
