The American Soldier | Sept. 22, 2012-Jan. 6, 2013
Curated and produced by Cyma Rubin, The American Soldier: From the Civil War to the War in Iraq is a dramatic exhibition of photographs that captures the essence of American soldiering over the past 150 years. The 116 photographs in this exhibition cover America at war through the Civil War, Spanish American War, Boxer Rebellion, World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Gulf War, Afghanistan, and to the streets of Baghdad. The exhibition’s purpose is both commemorative and educational, giving children and young adults a vivid sense of just how much today’s soldiers and their predecessors have given us. Likewise, it celebrates the contributions made by the photojournalists – some famous, some anonymous – who have risked danger at the front lines, and without whose work we could not experience these moments in history.
