The Sheldon Museum of Art is hosting an audio description workshop designed to help organizations engage with people who have vision impairments in exploration of the world of art and objects. Joel Snyder, president of Audio Description Associates and director of the Audio Description Project of the American Council of the Blind, will lead the workshop.
The workshop will be held on Jan. 30 and 31 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Sheldon, 12th and R streets on the University of Nebraska–Lincoln City Campus.
Topics covered during the workshop include audio description history and theory, descriptive tours, mini-documentaries, and the art of concentration and observation. Participants will have opportunities to learn and practice audio description skills with works in the Sheldon galleries. There will be ample time for sharing and questions, and participants will receive certificates of completion.
The cost of the workshop is $200 per person. To register, please call 402-472-4524. Space is limited. The registration deadline is January 28, 2014.
