In and see five new web sites just for 9 to 12 year-old 'Tweens'
like you!
PBS has lots
of programs you watch now and watched when you were younger. Now we have
lots of great web sites as you grow up. Here are five new ones that let
you explore backyard jungles, figure out how not to get ripped off and
see how what you eat can determine who you are.
ARE
YOU GONNA EAT THAT?
This web site helps you see if what you eat determines who you are (want
fries with that?) Follow six middle school kids as they find out for themselves
how their food changes the way they grow, what they look like and how
it affects their whole family. When you visit the Plastic Fork Diaries,
you can even become part of a special on-line community. Este
website está también disponible en español.

DON'T
BUY IT!
Advertisers want you to spend your money on things that they sell. From
athletic shoes to lip gloss, they all want you to buy their stuff. Find
out how to know the difference between hype and the real deal. Write your
own ads and put them in sneaky places, design your own cereal box and
take a quiz that shows you the truth behind the ads. http://PBSKids.org/dontbuyit
IT'S
YOUR LIFE
It's your life and now there's a web site to help you deal with issues
that affect 9 to 12 year-olds like you. Find solutions to the social,
emotional and physical questions that you have. (Este
website también tiene recursos españoles de la lengua.)

GROW A BACKYARD JUNGLE
Your backyard doesn't have to be big to grow things - there's already
tons of stuff there to look at and learn about. See what's growing, what
other kids around the country have in their yards (you won't believe some
of it) and how you can create your own backyard jungle. http://www.backyardjungle.org

THE WORLD ISN'T FLAT
We learned a long time ago that the world isn't flat everything
has a shape and takes up space. The 3D&I website is a place for you
to explore all three dimensions. Be an architect, product designer, interior
decorator or mechanical engineer with wild, hands-on design challenges.
