Rx for Kids: A Nebraska Connects Special is a part of a national campaign to increase awareness and action for global health. This ground-breaking outreach initiative is being spearheaded in Nebraska by NET Television, a service of NET (Nebraska Educational Telecommunications), in partnership with the Nebraska Rxfor Child Survival coalition.
The cornerstone of this initiative is Rx for Survival™, a dramatic six-hour public television series airing November 1-3 on NET1. Rx for Survival™ examines the most prominent global health issues and concerns, including deadly infectious diseases, vaccines and medicines, malnutrition, obesity, and the challenges unique to forging better health in developing countries. It brings together independent media coverage from PBS.org, TIME, National Public Radio and The Penguin Press.
This pioneering multimedia project is co-produced by WGBH Boston and Seattle's Vulcan Productions and funded by the Seattle-based Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and The Merck Company Foundation. It is supported in part by the Nebraska Rx Coalition; NET, University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC)/University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) Master of Public Health Program; UNMC- Pediatrics; Student Alliance for Global Health; the Nebraska Children and Families Foundation; Omaha’s Our Healthy Community Partnership; CityMatCH; Douglas County Health Department; Nebraska Health and Human Services; Rotary International – Nebraska; Rotary International District 5630; and Rotary International District 5650.
