The Nebraska Caregiving Town Hall Meeting:
A Nebraska Connects Special
spacer
Wednesday, June 22, 8 p.m. (CT) on NET1

Many, if not most, adults in their lifetimes will be both caregiver and cared-for as advances in medicine make it possible for individuals to survive for years with diseases and chronic conditions that would have meant rapid death just a few years ago. Three specials this week on NET Television provide local and national perspectives on the issues that surround the increasing role that caregiving plays in the lives of all Americans, regardless of income, ethnic background or geographical location.

On Tuesday, June 21, “And Thou Shalt Honor” airs at 8 p.m. CT (7 MT) on NET2. The documentary, which first aired in 2002, takes a warm and caring look at family caregiving, telling the stories of the caregivers, those they care for and the professionals who struggle with an underfunded and often misunderstood system.

“The Nebraska Caregiving Town Hall Meeting: A Nebraska Connects Special” airs Wednesday, June 22, at 8 p.m. CT (7 MT) on NET1. The program is a co-production of NET Television and Wiland-Bell Productions, the producers of the original “And Thou Shalt Honor.” Taped this past spring in Kearney with an audience of more than 100 caregivers and experts, the program discusses issues affecting caregivers, identifies what is working well, highlights gaps and barriers, and begins the conversation toward system-wide improvements in support of caregivers. The program is one in a series produced by the filmmakers of “And Thou Shalt Honor” in partnership with local organizations across the country. “The Nebraska Caregiving Town Hall Meeting” repeats on NET2 Saturday, June 25, at 3 p.m. CT (2 MT). It also repeats on NET1 on Sunday, June 26, at 12:30 p.m. CT (11:30 MT).

Immediately following at 9 p.m. CT (8 MT) on NET1, stay tuned for “And Thou Shalt Honor: National Caregiving Town Hall Meeting,” which focuses on issues raised in town hall meetings across the country. The program explores whether, when or how the federal government is responsible (and whether it is not) for caregiving and healthcare issues that affect our rapidly increasing elderly population and their children. “And Thou Shalt Honor: National Caregiving Hall Meeting” repeats on NET2 on Saturday, June 25, at 4 p.m. CT (3 MT) and also repeats on NET1 Sunday, June 26, at 1:30 p.m. CT (12:30 MT), each time following the “Nebraska Caregiving Town Hall Meeting.”
