Parents and Students Get College Preparation Tips

As high school students and their families prepare for college, questions begin to surface. How will I pay for it? What type of college should I attend? Is financial aid available? Can I get a scholarship?

Parents and future college students can find answers to these and other college-related questions during the live, call-in program "Countdown to College: A Nebraska Connects Special" airing Wednesday, Dec. 6, at 7 p.m. CT on NET1.

Viewers can phone in questions by calling 1-800-666-3721 toll-free across the state. They may also submit questions via e-mail in advance or during the program to countdown@educationquest.org.

The "Countdown to College" panel this year will include: Brenda Leggiadro, guidance counselor at East High School in Lincoln; Les Monroe, director of college planning at the EducationQuest Foundation in Lincoln; Dusty Newton, director of admissions at the University of Nebraska at Kearney; and Joan Zanders, director of financial aid at Northeast Community College in Norfolk.

A videotaped version of the live "Countdown to College" program repeats on NET2 on Friday, Dec. 8, at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. CT; Saturday, Dec. 9, at noon CT; and Friday, Dec. 15, at 9 p.m. CT.
