Medicare Drug Plan Advice Offered on NET Television

How does the Medicare prescription drug plan work?
Who can get coverage? How does one sign-up?
In November of last year, Medicare recipients began enrolling for the new Medicare D prescription drug plan which went into effect the beginning of 2006. But to date, a number of Nebraska Medicare beneficiaries have not yet enrolled.
If you have questions about this plan be sure to tune in for some answers when "Medicare Drug Plan: A Nebraska Connects Special" airs Tuesday, April 18, at 8 p.m. CT, repeating Sunday, April 23, at 7 p.m. CT on NET1.
Hosted by NET Television's Mike Tobias, the hour-long program features a panel of experts, including: Mary Hammond, a Norfolk, Neb., pharmacist; Dick Nelson, Nebraska Health and Human Services System; Jina Ragland, coordinator of the Nebraska Department of Insurance SHIIP program (Senior Health Insurance Information Program); and Averil Savery, a Lincoln resident who talks about her experiences signing up for Medicare Part D.
Among the topics discussed are an overview of the Medicare Part D benefits; what to look for in a drug plan; extra assistance for low income beneficiaries and advice for low income elderly on both Medicare and Medicaid; knowing your rights as a consumer and how to identify fraud and abuse problems; and where people can go for assistance.
There will also be several broadcasts of the program on NET2, including: Saturday, April 22, at 9 a.m. CT; Tuesday, April 25, at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. CT; Wednesday, April 26, at 8 p.m. CT; Saturday, April 29, at noon and 3 p.m. CT; and Sunday, April 30, at 6 a.m. CT.
